Tour Itinerary
08:00 AM – Hotel Pickup in Marsa Alam
Your trip begins with pickup from your hotel in the Marsa Alam area.
Travel in an air-conditioned vehicle toward Abu Dabbab Bay, north of Marsa Alam.
The exact pickup time and driving duration depend on the location of your hotel.
08:45 AM – Arrival at Abu Dabbab Beach
Arrive at Abu Dabbab and meet your snorkeling guide.
Take some time to prepare your equipment and enjoy your first view of the sandy bay.
Abu Dabbab is known for its easy beach access and shallow entry, making it particularly comfortable for first-time snorkelers. Abu Dabbab Beach
09:00 AM – Snorkeling Safety Briefing
Before entering the water, your guide explains:
- How to use your mask and snorkel
- How to enter the water safely
- How to use a life jacket
- Where turtles are commonly found
- How to stay away from coral
- How to behave responsibly around marine animals
You should never touch, chase or block the path of turtles or other wildlife.
09:15 AM – First Snorkeling Session over the Seagrass
Enter the water directly from the sandy beach.
The first snorkeling session focuses on Abu Dabbab’s seagrass meadows, one of the bay’s most important habitats.
Green sea turtles regularly feed in these areas, which is why Abu Dabbab is often known as Turtle Bay. Abu Dabbab Bay Marsa Alam
You may see:
- Green sea turtles
- Reef fish
- Rays
- Guitar fish
- Seagrass habitats
- Other Red Sea marine life
Wildlife sightings remain natural and cannot be guaranteed.
10:00 AM – Turtle Watching & Guided Snorkeling
Continue exploring the bay with your guide.
If turtles are present, observe them quietly from a respectful distance while they swim or feed.
Avoid:
- Touching turtles
- Swimming directly above them at very close range
- Blocking their route to the surface
- Feeding marine animals
- Standing on coral or seagrass
10:30 AM – Beach Break
Return to the beach for a short break.
Relax under the shade, have a drink and enjoy the surroundings before your second snorkeling session.
Abu Dabbab Beach currently provides visitor facilities including restrooms, showers, shaded areas and changing facilities. booking.abudabbab.com
11:00 AM – Second Snorkeling Session at the Coral Reef
Enter the water again, this time focusing more on one of the coral reef areas bordering the bay.
Abu Dabbab has northern and southern house reefs separated by the central sandy and seagrass area. Abu Dabbab Bay Marsa Alam
Depending on conditions, you may see:
- Hard corals
- Soft corals
- Butterflyfish
- Angelfish
- Parrotfish
- Surgeonfish
- Schools of reef fish
- Rays
- Additional turtles
11:45 AM – Chance to Spot a Dugong
Abu Dabbab is also associated with the dugong, sometimes called a sea cow.
The dugong is a wild and much less predictable animal than the resident turtles.
So the page should never say that dugong sightings are guaranteed.
The correct commercial wording is:
“Chance to spot the rare dugong if it is present in the bay.”
The official Abu Dabbab site itself lists the dugong among the bay’s marine life, while current snorkeling operators describe sightings as occasional. Abu Dabbab Beach

After snorkeling, enjoy some free time on the beach.
You can:
- Relax on the sand
- Swim close to shore
- Take photographs
- Rest in the shaded area
- Enjoy the Red Sea scenery
12:45 PM – Departure
