Depart from your Luxor hotel or Nile cruise accommodation. Allow up to an hour for the journey and arrival arrangements, depending on your pickup location. An early departure puts the main tomb visit before the hottest part of the day.

8:00–10:00 AM — Explore the Valley of the Kings

Allow approximately two hours for entry arrangements, walking between tombs and exploring three tombs covered by the standard admission.

Focus on the details that make each visit different: the painted ceilings, the arrangement of corridors and the scenes describing the pharaoh’s journey into the afterlife. Available tombs can change, so the selection should be confirmed on the day.

If Tutankhamun’s tomb is a priority, request it when arranging your tour. It requires a separate ticket, and adding it may extend the schedule.

10:00–10:30 AM — Refreshment Break and Transfer

Pause for water and a short rest before continuing to Deir el-Bahari. This interval also allows some flexibility if entry queues take longer than expected.

10:30–11:45 AM — Visit Hatshepsut Temple

Explore the temple’s terraces beneath the limestone cliffs and discover how Hatshepsut presented her authority as pharaoh through architecture and imagery.

Allow time to appreciate the setting as well as the reliefs. The site includes exposed walking areas and ramps, so choose a comfortable pace.

11:45 AM–12:15 PM — Transfer and Colossi of Memnon Stop

Continue to the Colossi of Memnon for a short visit and photographs. These monumental seated statues depict Amenhotep III and once stood at the entrance to his mortuary temple.

12:15–1:00 PM — Return to Your Accommodation

Complete your West Bank Luxor tour with the return journey. If you prefer to stay out for lunch, request a restaurant stop when confirming the itinerary and its cost.

Choosing Your Valley of the Kings Tour from Luxor

Should You Choose the West Bank or Both Banks?

Choose the West Bank itinerary if royal tombs are your priority or you prefer a shorter sightseeing day. Choose both banks if you also want Karnak and Luxor Temple and are comfortable with additional walking.

Are All Tombs Included?

No. Standard admission covers a selection of three eligible open tombs. Special tombs, including Tutankhamun’s, require separate tickets. Site admission is also different from your tour package price, so check whether tickets are included in your quote.
