Lake Nasser Cruise Itinerary
The following is a representative 5-day, 4-night Lake Nasser cruise from Aswan to Abu Simbel. Exact sailing times, sightseeing order and overnight locations may change depending on the ship and navigation schedule.
Day 1 – Aswan and Cruise Embarkation
Your Lake Nasser cruise begins in Aswan.
Meet your representative and transfer toward the Lake Nasser cruise port near the High Dam.
Complete the embarkation procedures and settle into your cabin.
Depending on the operating schedule, your first sightseeing may include the Kalabsha archaeological area.
Visit Kalabsha Temple, one of the major monuments preserved during the Nubian rescue campaign. Some cruise programs may also include nearby Beit El Wali and the Kiosk of Qertassi.
Return to the ship and enjoy lunch or dinner on board according to your embarkation time.
Spend your first night on Lake Nasser.
Meals: Lunch and Dinner
Overnight: On board
Day 2 – Wadi El Seboua
Wake up to open views across Lake Nasser and enjoy breakfast on board as the cruise continues south.
Today you explore Wadi El Seboua, an important temple complex associated with Ramesses II.
Walk along its striking avenue of sphinxes and discover how Egyptian and Nubian history meet in this remote desert setting.
Depending on the confirmed cruise itinerary, the excursion may also include nearby sites such as Dakka Temple and Maharraqa Temple.
Return to the cruise for lunch and continue sailing through the quiet landscapes of Lake Nasser.
Enjoy afternoon tea, dinner and a relaxing evening aboard the ship.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Overnight: On board
Day 3 – Amada, Derr and the Tomb of Pennut
After breakfast, continue your Lake Nasser cruise Abu Simbel journey toward the Amada area.
Visit the Temple of Amada, one of the most important surviving monuments of ancient Nubia.
The site is particularly valued for its preserved reliefs and painted decoration.
Continue, subject to the ship's program, to the Temple of Derr and the Tomb of Pennut.
These less-visited sites are one of the reasons the Lake Nasser route is especially rewarding for travelers who have already seen Egypt's better-known attractions.
Return to the ship and spend the afternoon sailing farther south.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Overnight: On board
Day 4 – Qasr Ibrim and Abu Simbel
Enjoy breakfast while sailing toward Qasr Ibrim.
Unlike many Nubian temples that were moved before the creation of Lake Nasser, Qasr Ibrim remained in its original location.
The archaeological site is normally observed from aboard the cruise rather than visited on foot.
Continue sailing toward Abu Simbel.
As you approach your final destination, the landscape becomes one of the highlights of the entire Aswan to Abu Simbel cruise.
Visit the legendary Abu Simbel Temples with your Egyptologist guide according to the confirmed cruise schedule.
The Great Temple was constructed for Ramesses II, while the smaller temple honors Queen Nefertari and the goddess Hathor.
Both were relocated during one of the world's most famous archaeological rescue projects after construction of the Aswan High Dam threatened the original site.
Return to the cruise for your final evening on board.
An Abu Simbel Sound and Light Show may sometimes be available as an optional evening activity, depending on the operating schedule.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Overnight: Abu Simbel on board
